Listen up! The date for the 5th Vogtland Challenge is official.
On 8th September 2018 we welcome you to the cross-triathlon at the Zeulenrodaer Meer.
Due to a tight timetable for the cross triathlon events and interferences with other regional events we were not able to hold the usual weekend for the Vogtland Challenge. Although we think we found a proper alternative with the new date and are looking very much forward to it.
We hope all of you are with us again in 2018 and therefore we recommend you to mark the date in your calendars.
Great results by our German triathletes at the XTERRA World Championship in Maui. Overall more than 800 athletes from 52 countries competed in the event.
Pro athlete Laura Philipp almost surprised us all at her Maui-premiere. The triathlete from Heidelberg finished as third and won bronze. The title went for the fourth time in a row to Flora Duffy (Bermudas) while Barbara Riveros from Chile won silver.
Sebastian Küfner from Gera also returns to Germany with a bronze medal. In his age group M30 he got the third best result and came in 13th overall. His father Ronald Küfner who competed against 64 athletes in his age groupe M50 placed 22nd.
World Champion of the age group M65 is Jürg Binia from Dresden. Günter Weichhold from Waldheim also made the podium in his age group M70 as third.
"Triathlon Hawaii" is not just the highlight for all classic triathletes. The season final for cross-triathletes also takes place on Maui annually.
The time has come: Next weekend on 28th/29th october the XTERRA world championship 2017 takes place. All athletes start on the 1.5km swim course at the Honolua Bay and continue by MTB on the 30km course along the West Maui Mountains. Finally the triathletes have to complete the challenging and hilly 10km cross run.
